Hello Dreamers:

Have you ever felt a little bit “off-kilter” or maybe just in a funk, or have a feeling that you just can’t “shake”. Maybe you need grounding. Earthing (also called Grounding) is a way of connecting with the earth by walking barefoot. Since earth is our biggest source of free electrons, grounding allows transfer of them into our bodies. Our ancestors were in constant contact with the earth by walking barefoot and sleeping on the ground. Have you ever noticed the calming energy you feel when you visit the ocean? That’s because the sand and water naturally energize us. Do you feel a sense of peace when gardening? Touching the earth (dirt) also gives us nature's energy. Does a shower seem to soothe your soul? The metal pipes are in the ground and water is conductive.

I have begun to do all my beach runs barefoot. I can’t accurately say how much Vitamin “G” (a word termed for grounding) I am absorbing but I do know that you can’t beat a long beach run!

Here is a list of some of the proclaimed benefits of grounding:

Decreased pain levels

Decreased stress levels

Decreased inflammation

Minimizes aging

Improves your sleep

Thins your blood (not recommended for patients on Coumadin or other blood thinners)

Decreases blood pressure

Calms your sympathetic nervous system

Increases tissue repair

These are not the only reasons we need grounding. Our dependence on technology has increased the amount of free radicals in our body which leaves us at risk for disease. Our disconnect with nature is to blame.

Free radicals in our bodies become excessive by exposure to mercury pollution, cigarettes, insecticides, pesticides, transfat, and radiation. These electrons that we absorb while grounding neutralize the free radicals.

Natural habits such as eating a whole plant based diet, exercising, absorbing sunshine and clean air and water are all efficient ways to reduce stress and disease. Also walking barefoot is totally free, so why not give it a try.
