TAKE A "ME" DAY

I recently took a day all to myself. My passion is health and fitness, so I headed to Melbourne, Florida for the Natural Awakening Health and Fitness Expo. Most of the attendees were locals and they were surprised that I would travel for two and a half hours to attend the expo. To me, it was just a nice little road trip. While I was there, these are some of the things I did: I participated in a yoga class, Qi Gong class, got a B12 shot, purchased 5 books, bought some of the new aerosol essential oil waters, and attended several workshops. Oh yeah, and I was told by a Healer of the John of God that I need to meditate more...who knew, right? I enjoyed the expo and got to connect with some Life Coaches and Health Coaches, (the field that I am becoming certified in). Then I drove over the Causeway and did a 5 mile run on the beach before heading home. I haven’t been to the beaches near Cocoa in years and it made me appreciate our pristine white sand around St. Augustine. The best part was stopping at WaWa for a sandwich to eat while driving home. If you haven’t been to a WaWa, you need to find one. If you are near Virginia or north of Florida, the same type of store is called Sheetz. Okay, I better tell you that it is a gas station, but they have a kiosk where you can order and customize sandwiches, coffees, and teas. My daughter turned me on to Sheetz when I was visiting her at college in Virginia. It seemed to be a mainstay for her meals when not eating from the elaborate menu at Sweet Briar Cafeteria.
My tastes and interests don’t appeal to everyone, so I want to know what you would do on your “me” day.

WHAT I’M READING NOW
BREAKFAST WITH BUDDHA Roland Merullo
If you are doing a road trip this summer, this is a fun book to read. Roland Merullo spins the tale of a well-to-do but stressed business man who finds himself driving across the midwest in the company of a robed monk. At his sister's request, he shows his passenger some American traditions along the way. Roland’s character feels smug that he is teaching the monk all about the West vs. the East. But along the way, he is the one who is the student of a valuable lesson.

BEING DHARMA
AJahn Chan
Ajahn Chan uses humor and a refreshing view to explain the teachings of Buddha. He speaks of Dharma being practiced in everyday life in the most simple ways. Mindfulness and meditation are the key to simplifying the illusion that our Western lifestyle portrays. Everyday stress is explained away as nothingness. If you ever wanted to know anything about Buddha, Chan presents the material in an easy way to learn. This book is an essential read to lower your stress level and remind you what is really important in life.

CLEAR YOUR CLUTTER WITH FENG SHUI Karen Kingston
Kingston exudes the life of clean and free energy. Living half of the year in England and the other six months in Bali, who wouldn't take her advice? This book covers everything you need to know to increase energy and wealth into your life. Not only does she explain the bagues and the sections that are affected, she also teaches you how to clear clutter from your body. This is the most complete feng shui book I have found and is a much used resource in my library.
Until next week, dreamers…. meet me here on Wednesday with your smoothie in hand.
