J. Elliott introduces MONKEY MIND, the first book in a series of novels featuring Haint Blue.
The scene is set in a quaint Florida town where Haint, "an insecure albino"purchases a run-down fish camp and turns it into a mediation retreat. Retaining the anomalous Skunk Ape statue at the entrance and keeping an unsightly sign made by well-meaning friends, Haint shows her sense of humor.
Her opening weekend welcomes guest of diverse backgrounds and varying intentions for attending the meditation retreat. Soon the mischief, mishaps, and missing persons searches begin. While trying to maintain composure, Haint uses her Buddha philosophies to calm the guests and guide them to Inner Peace.
On the outside she portrays the stoic hostess; calmly leading meditations, while on the inside she nervously comtemplates the demise of her new investment, the potential of each guest being a killer, and facing her own Inner Critic.
With southern atmosphere, sprinkled humor and sibling camaraderie, Elliott takes us into Haint's chaotic world of running the Retreat Center. The descriptive vegetarian meal preps will have you salivating as you turn the page. Kudos to J. Elliott for the first Haint Blue Adventure. I can't wait for more adventures with Haint - I think I have found my guru. And another appearance of the Skunk Ape would be fun too!
Keep Dreaming,
